For as long as I have been involved with the West Coast Junior Prep Camp, I’ve always been able to rely on 1 coach we have witnessed climb the ranks of Junior hockey. We are excited to announce that Prep Camp loyal coach Geoff Grimwood will once again grace our presence. I have a soft spot for Grimmer, as he and I are both alumni of the Victoria Salsa of the BCHL. Albeit I left just before Geoff arrived in 1998. Wow that’s a while ago.
Since starting with Prep Camp Geoff has moved up the coaching ranks:
- Assistant Coach – Peninsula Panthers, VIJHL
- Head Coach – Peninsula Panthers, VIJHL (won league title)
- Assistant Coach – Powell River Kings, BCHL
- Assistant Coach – Victoria Royals, WHL (and Head Coach South Island MML)
We are honoured and thrilled to have Geoff back in Week 2 & 3 of the Prep Camp 2014. Due to his dual role in both the MML and WHL leagues, Geoff is a huge asset to Prep Camp on our exposure scouting side, not to mention his strong on ice coaching ability. Over the past 5 years Grimmer has been instrumental in many players making the jump to their next level, even if its not on his own team. A quick call to another Junior team on behalf of Prep Camp worthy candidates vouching for the player is all in a day’s work for coach Grimwood.
