With a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Poland, Team Hungary won the Silver Medal at the 2015 IIHF World Championship, earning promotion to the 2016 World Championship in Russia next year. This will be the first time in the last seven years that Hungary will play in the top division of the tournament after narrowly missing out by a single place the past four years.
Head coach Rich Chernomaz, Prep Camp Guest Coach and native of Port Alberni, discussed his teams incredible accomplishment: “If you stick on a plan and stay disciplined you can achieve the unachievable and that’s what we did this week.”
